Adult Psalm 150 Dance Team
Mission/Purpose:
The Psalm 150 Dance Team’s purpose is to praise and worship the Lord through dance. Through this ministry we hope to help usher in the Holy Spirit and to lead others to Christ. We invite all ladies ages 13 and up to join.
Associates Ministers
Mission/Purpose:
To be a faithful supporter to the Senior Pastor. To uphold, sustain, maintain and defend him as our leader. To help the Senior Pastor carry out the vision of the church that God has given him.
Audio and Video Ministry
Mission/Purpose:
The purpose of the Audio & Video Ministry is to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. We offer the word of God, given through our very own pastor, Pastor James H. Nixon, on cassettes, videos and now cd’s. We are committed to our service in spreading the gospel by providing free cassettes to the sick and shut-in from Sunday morning services, we provide services for funerals, weddings and any other event that may take place at our church and need assistance from the Audio & Video Ministry. Our ministry offers hands-on training for anyone interested in being sound technicians, video operators, along with dubbing and sales persons. Anyone who is fully committed to helping to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, equipped to handle challenges, and wants to grow higher in the Lord, is invited to join our team.
Benevolence
Mission/Purpose
We believe that the scriptures are clear concerning helping those in need. We are commanded to do good to all people as we have opportunity, with a special emphasis upon caring for those who profess to be fellow Christians, especially those of our own fellowship of believers. We are commanded to be generous and willing to share, laying up treasure for ourselves in the coming age by our kindness and generosity in this life. This is true for the church as an organization as well for the individual members of the church. Therefore, in accordance with biblical commands, as a fundamental aspect to the practice of our faith, we will share of our material goods with those in need and will minister to them to the best of our abilities, whatever the need.
Bereavement Committee
Purpose:
Our goal is just to continue to help and take care of the bereaved families that are in need of our help. Everyone that helps out really does enjoy the work that they put in. I thank God for everyone for their helping support.
Deacons
Mission/Purpose:
Our mission is to assist and support the pastor with the work of the ministry so he may be freely able to give wholly of himself in prayer and study of the word. We will serve the membership via prayer, visitation and phone calls. We will minister to the needs of the sick and shut-in and leaders in the church as we model the leadership of Jesus the Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Deaf Ministry
Mission/Purpose:
To provide leadership to the church in serving the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing community; to increase deaf awareness among the church members-at-large; to ensure equal access to Christian experiences to all people.
Floral Ministry
Mission/Purpose:
Our purpose is the beautification of the sanctuary. To place flowers in memory of loved ones; to make sure that flowers are sent to bereave family members (immediate).
Hospitality
Mission/Purpose:
The most important part of our ministry is to share ourselves and our Lord with others. This ministry gives one an opportunity to recognize their gifts and talents and to invest them into the church. We prepare meals for most events in the church, such as Church Anniversary, Family Day Event, Pastor’s Anniversary, and etc. We also help other ministries with their events. As a member you will be able to display your talents for cooking, serving, baking, decorating and sharing of yourself.
Intercessory Prayer
Mission/Purpose:
To intercede for the church family, Pastor and First Lady, leaders, teachers, and those who are weak and the
lost. Believing that when we touch and agree that God will hear and answer our prayers for salvation, healing
and deliverance along with spiritual growth.
Jabez Ministry
Mission/Purpose:
Our goal is to continue to be supportive to the Ministry’s Purpose. To perfect what we already have. Always being willing to reach out in spite of opposition. To be in place as much as possible, assisting our parishioners in a decent and loving manner during their visit to the church and the restrooms.
Landscape Ministry
Mission/Purpose:
God demonstrated the importance of living vegetation when he created it on the third day…before the creation of the sun and the moon! (Genesis 1:11-12). After God created man he planted a garden eastward in Eden where he place him as its gardener to tend and care for it! (Genesis 2:15). The Landscape Ministry of Union Missionary Baptist Church views our church grounds as “Our Garden of Eden”! As God placed Adam into the garden to trend and care for it, so has he placed in this ministry those who are interested in the beauty and maintenance of our church grounds. It is the responsibility of the Landscape Ministry to oversee and monitor the work of the contracted landscaper as he fulfills our ideas and suggestions. Though the time may come when we may need to have a “hands on” input, these occasions do not arise often.
Men that Matter
Mission/Purpose:
It is the mission of the men of Union Missionary Baptist Church to commune together, to give encouragement to each other, our youth and the community. While teaching leadership, and showing others the pathway to righteousness, by teaching the knowledge of Christ and fellowshipping in the word of God, together in unity.
Missionary and Mother Board
Purpose:
Our main goal is to bring souls to Christ, study the Word, and be more prayerful. Meditate on God’s word so we can tell people about His Word. We want to be more sharing and caring Christians so we can help to heal the hurting of others. We want to become better witnesses.
Music & Arts
Mission/Purpose:
We bless the Lord for who He is! We are also called into remembrance of all his benefits toward us. In gratitude we willingly and purposefully submit our callings, gifting, talents, and several abilities to HIM. In so offering we endeavor to please the Lord. It is our hope to be mightily used for HIS Glory and to HIS Honor!
Nursery
Mission/Purpose:
To provide a safe, clean, nurturing place where as we must reinforce the lessons of the bible to our children.
Nursing Guild
Mission/Purpose:
A standing compassion & humanitarian action to assist the stricken, the helpless; to give first aid and nursing care.
Outreach Ministry
Mission/Purpose:
Our goal is to reach the lost and empower them with the word of God so that they can believe and receive God as there personal Savior.
Pulpit Ministry
Mission/Purpose:
Our mission is to serve the Pastor in any capacity necessary in accordance with the Word and bring to the fore front the importance of acknowledging the leader that we have been blessed with. We put God first, so as not to lose perspective of who the Pastor is. He is our leader. Therefore, we “worship” God and “honor” the leader God has given us as the Word instruments.
Security
Mission/Purpose:
The purpose of the Security Ministry is to provide safety to our congregation and church families. To greet people with smiles and a warm welcome and give them a sense of security.
Senior Usher Board Ministry
Mission/Purpose:
The purpose of the church Ushers is to promote the divine worship of the church. To render service of any kind effectively and is always ready when called upon. Maintain order and decency is one of the objectives of the church Usher. “Let all things be done decently and in order” (1Cor. 14:40). Silently they express the welcome to the church (with a warm and loving smile). They are interested in the comforts and needs of the worshippers; their desire is to make everyone comfortable.
Senior Men & Women of Faith
Mission/Purpose:
Create within us a universal spirit of love and consideration. Keep us tolerant and understanding; make us worthy as servants in thy Kingdom upon the earth. Inspire and elevate our minds and make our greatest happiness to be working in the service of others.
Single Adult Ministry
Mission/Purpose:
The Single Adult Ministry, S.A.M., of Union Missionary Baptist Church is united in an effort to promote Christian “singlehood” by sharing the reality of Christ from the prospective of a single person.
Sunday School
Mission/Purpose:
To teach Sunday school lessons to each age of the ministry. Encourage, teach and promote the study of the word prayer, and praise amongst all the boys and girls, men and women.
Transportation Ministry
Mission/Purpose:
To provide safe transportation in a spiritual environment to church affiliated services and/or functions to members of the Union Missionary Baptist Church Family.
Trinity Transportation
Mission/Purpose:
To provide good, clean, dependable vehicles to hard-working individuals in need of transportation. Ministry members collect and rehab used vehicles to share with individuals in need. Come join us as we help to put saints on the right road, with good, clean transportation.
Union Youth Enrichment & Community Initiatives Center
Mission/Purpose:
To let no child slip through the educational, religious and social “cracks” of society. We are committed to making the statement: “A mind is a terrible thing to waste”, a reality.
Union Station Bookstore
Mission/Purpose:
To provide a comprehensive resource center for all people of God who seek a broader spiritual exposure to the works of the divinely inspired Christians. To offer audio/visual, musical and written works by God’s talented people, to Gods people such that a God centered revolution begins within each heart that enters herein.
Youth Usher Board Ministry
Mission/Purpose:
The purpose of the church Youth Ushers is to teach them how to be young doorkeepers in God’s House under the direction of the Adult Ushers over them. To teach them how to act and govern themselves during and after services. To always be willingly polite, to greet and welcome visitors and the entire congregation with a smile. So, when they become Adult Ushers they will know what is expected of them in God’s house when they stand at the doors.
Senior Ushers
Mission/Purpose:
An usher is an officer of the church that he or she serves. The purpose of the church usher is to promote divine worship of the church and to render services of all kind when called upon. The services of the church usher are a very important job. We are the door-keepers of the church.
Welcome Ministry
Mission/Purpose:
“Love, Hospitality and Compassion in Action”. Our purpose is to demonstrate the church’s spirit to our members and visitors. A spirit of brotherly love, hospitality and compassion.
